Using the camera one-handed feels very natural indeed, although I would recommend using your left hand to support the camera, especially in low-light, or when using the long end of the zoom. Performance In use I found the SHD to be very responsive, focusing quickly in most circumstances, especially when the face detection system is active.

However I did find the autofocus performance would Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera off a little as the lens is zoomed in, sometimes taking a couple of seconds to lock onto a subject at the zoom's full extent.

Moving subjects are even more tricky to deal with at the telephoto end of the zoom, but not impossible. The exposure system copes well with evenly lit scenes, producing well-balanced exposures. In Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera contrast situations I find the exposure system copes less well, especially in images with a fair amount of bright sky in them. In these conditions the camera tends to favour keeping details in the highlights, which often results in dull-looking underexposed images.

Even without setting the SHD to a high colour saturation Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera, primary and secondary colours are reproduced vividly, giving images a punchy look. Skin tones and pastel colours are reproduced faithfully. The 12 megapixel sensor is capable of recording a decent amount of detail in ideal conditions.

FinePix S2500HD / S2600HD (Discontinued Model)

Images appear sharp Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera edge to edge and should be suitable for large reproduction. The exposure system seems to prefer to retain detail in highlights, which can lead to images with large bright areas looking a little dull and underexposed.

Primary and secondary colours are vividly reproduced. Focusing on this squirrel was tricky. I missed several opportunities where the autofocus couldn't keep up. The super-macro function allows you to get within 2cm of your subject at the widest zoom setting.

There is no significant noise at settings up to ISO At these settings images are plenty sharp enough in most cases and should Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera suitable for enlargement. At ISO there still isn't much noise present but the noise reduction system reduces colour saturation and smooths over fine detail.

As the sensitivity is increased the level of noise becomes more apparent and more detail is smoothed over by the camera's noise reduction system. Images taken up to ISO should be suitable for sharing at small sizes on the web, but Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera noise levels and lack of detail will be apparent in prints of almost any size. At the maximum ISO setting the noise reduction has reduced colour saturation so much that the outdoor test image almost looks like a toned black and white Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera, with grain the size of golf balls.

I'd only recommend using this setting as a last resort. Above the lens sits the forward sloping ridge housing the integral pop-up flash. A dedicated button for activating this spring-loaded mechanism sits to its right, three Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera prick-sized holes for the built-in microphone just below. Over at the other side of the lens is a portal housing the AF assist light, to the left of which is the comfortably moulded grip, with some leather-effect padding Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera help prevent your fingers slipping.

For anyone with average sized hands there's just enough room to squeeze three fingers around the grip, leaving your forefinger automatically hovering over the shutter release button situated at the front of its slope, and your thumb pressed against the slightly indented pad at the rear. While you certainly wouldn't want the grip to be any smaller, it feels just about right given the overall size of the camera.

Front Side The Fujifilm FinePix SHD's L-shaped top plate looks at once familiar and approachable, the largest control being a ridged mode wheel featuring 10 settings. Starting with full auto mode and moving clockwise we come to one of the Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera main selling points, the aforementioned SR Scene Recognition auto, and, continuing in the same direction next alight on SP Scene Position.

This mode features standard pre-optimised settings for 15 familiar scenes and subjects, accessed by pressing the 'menu' button at the camera's rear, and includes portraits, landscapes, sunsets, fireworks plus a natural light and museum mode amongst its selection. Continuing clockwise around the dial we come to another of the Fujifilm's user-friendly features, its panorama mode, which allows the user to shoot a sequence of three images that the SHD automatically stitches together in-camera - no additional software or technical skills required.

A narrow portion of the previous frame is displayed as Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera user pans from left to right taking Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera, so you can line up the joins with a reasonable level of accuracy.

Though not essential, it's another fun extra that should appeal to the family target market, and will surely come into its own as an aide memoir for holiday vistas. After a little practice, surprisingly successful results can be achieved, although the overall resolution of the resulting picture is limited to x pixels. Next Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera the dial is a setting for the already mentioned video capture - note that there's no one-touch video-record button on this camera.

What's more of a surprise is that with a successive turn of the dial we come to a user-attributable custom setting, a feature more commonly found on a DSLR proper. Compounding the indication that the SHD perhaps has something to offer the photo enthusiast after all, there follows the creative quartet Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera manual, aperture priority, Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera priority and program modes, allowing full access to manually selectable ISO speeds, quality settings and of course colour effects.

And, with a further twist, Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera back to full auto again. Slide this to the right and the SHD powers up in just over a second - pretty quick for this class of camera - the rear LCD displaying a Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD Camera logo initially before blossoming into life. There's also the option of an electronic viewfinder for shot composition - more on which later. Top Side Forward of this slider are a pair of raised, identically sized buttons. To the left is a dedicated control for activating face detection which biases the focus and exposure toward any faces in the frame.
