The display lid presents a glossy finished surface, which is surprisingly resistant to fingerprints and smudge. It looks different on the inside of the notebook on the black display casing. Every handling to adjust the viewing angle leaves its marks here. Fortunately, the rest of the case surfaces were omitted from this high gloss finish. In the area of the wrist rests they even tried to imitate a brushed metal surface by means of a fine fluted structure.
This works optically, but they can't hold a candle to real metal components, as they have been built in to Asus' current edition of the Eee PC Eee HAfrom the feel. The whole case issues a more unsophisticated plastic flair, anyhow.

At least in regards to stability the chassis leaves nothing to be desired. The base unit, as well as the screen show an excellent winding stiffness and, above that, present themselves also particularly resistant against the effects of pressure impact. The Aspire One D can be picked up and carried around at all corners and edges without hesitation and without even the slightest creaking.
The display hinges have also turned out very exemplary. They don't only seem to be sturdy but they also hold the screen with a good amount of resistance in place but also allowing a readjusting of the opening angle with only one hand. As to the opening angle: This is restricted to approx.
The reason for this restriction is the protruding battery on the back side and for which a rubber lip has been fastened to the bottom edge of the display in order to prevent a thrashing when opening too recklessly. Single Review, online available, Medium, Date: I ran windows update and received all the updates and this PC is amazingly stable. The Aero interface runs flawlessly, with all the effects.
Some stuttering but only noticeable by picky users like me. Windows 7 looks beautiful on this machine and really compliments the high quality LCD included with Acer. Even the slide show wallpaper feature runs nice. The wallpapers transition every 5 minutes and do so very smoothly even with full CPU load!
CNet Despite taking a huge chunk of the growing netbook market, the popular Acer Aspire One has a 9-inch screen, rather than the inch type we prefer. At long last, Acer now has a inch model, the Aspire One D The budget Acer Aspire One D is a decent performer that gives more expensive rivals a run for their money. Some design trade-offs have been made to achieve its relatively low price, but we expect the D to further cement Acer's leading netbook market share.

With its low price tag, this is easily one of the most affordable inch netbooks that can run for over five hours on the battery. Users will have to put up with a few annoyances such as a smaller than average keyboard and potentially getting a lower amperage rated battery than what Acer claims.
PC Advisor We love it when a company sees fit to shake things up a little and cook up some crazy new design.
